About Me
I’m a survivor of gym class shame, overweight and low fitness. I know what it’s like to groan and use many body parts to get up off the floor. Finally I was able to turn my health and fitness around at age 52, and now I’m excited to share the self-kindness, joy in movement and new abilities I’ve discovered, thanks for visiting!
My own health journey helps me understand yours
I was a cute chubby kid who loved reading and languages and was usually picked last for teams at recess and gym class. I grew up to be an editor, translator, writer, language teacher, mom and volunteer who paid little attention to my body. In fact, I sometimes thought my legs just got in the way at the computer 🙂 By my early 50s I had obesity and felt that I was going “downhill” physically. In 2014, I set a goal of losing 20 pounds and started going to group fitness classes and eating mainly real foods from nature. I found a journey I’d never imagined that completely turned my health and my body around.Â
Now I have certifications as a health coach, personal trainer (never saw that coming! ?), Functional Aging Specialist, Laughter Yoga leader, Pfilates pelvic floor training teacher and SAIL instructor (Stay Active and Independent for Life). I’m passionate about helping other women find their own unique, empowering journeys to better health and greater well-being. I believe we can only do this if we stand together and help each other. I hope you’ll join me!Â
We all know what healthy habits look like, but how do we make them enjoyable and sustainable? That’s what I’ve discovered and love to share!
